Founder's Note

Twenty years in, still hands-on.

I grew up in Nairobi, in a family that treated the bush as an extension of the backyard. School holidays meant long drives to the Mara with my father, who drove a battered Land Cruiser and knew every ranger and camp manager between Narok and the Tanzanian border by first name. That's the version of East Africa I wanted this company built on — people who actually know the ground, ahead of anything printed or packaged.

We started Damon Quest with one vehicle and a conviction: that the best safaris come from people who actually live here, planning for the traveller in front of them rather than a standard itinerary. Two decades later, that's still the whole idea. We've added routes across Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, but we've kept the team small on purpose — every itinerary still passes through hands that have walked the terrain.

What hasn't changed is the promise: your journey is designed around you, guided by people who call this home, and supported end to end by a team you can actually reach.
